REUNION OF THE CLASS OF 1958
The seniors of this historic graduating class held their 50th reunion on September 26 and 27, 2008, in Little Rock. As always, the Little Rock Hall High School class of '58 was also part of this great celebration.
For details, go to the reunion site.
40TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT
In 1997, then-President Bill Clinton went to Central to help recall the events 40 years earlier. This web site recorded some of the 40th anniversary activities, plus it provides a look at Central High, a time line of desegregation in Little Rock and some information previously unavailable in a single web site about the 1957-58 school year.
WILSON'S TIGERS
Coach Wilson Matthews and his football teams at Central High School rewrote the history books in the 1950s. Matthews built a record of 111-14-3. Despite the distractions of the desegregation actions of 1957, the Tigers were ranked Number 1 in the nation that year. Read about the coach and his teams at www.wilsonstigers.org.
BLINDSIDED BY HISTORY
Fifty years ago segregationists trying to keep black students out of Little Rock Central High inadvertently broke up one of the country's greatest football dynasties. Read about it in this Sports Illustrated feature story by Gary Smith.
